About This Quote

An actor, a friend of mine, once told me that I’d become a TV actor by accident. He said that I was so deeply involved in the world of Shakespeare and had such enthusiasm for the art form, I was destined to be a television actor. It was as if someone had written my destiny on a scroll and tossed it into my path. I saw those words as I looked back at those years.

They were like a guidepost and something to remember. When we first met, I had just moved to LA and was sitting around complaining about how much work it had been to get here. The first thing he said to me was: “Welcome to Hollywood!” I had no idea what he meant by that, but his comment took me down a new path and gave me some sound advice about how to go forward.

The next few months we spent together were like an explosion of ideas and advice from the most wonderful teacher I’ve ever known.
